Exam registration and deregistration

In order to take an ordinary, new or re-scheduled exam, you must register for this in your Studentweb account. All students have three attempts at each exam. In some cases, you can apply for a fourth attempt. If you sit the same exam or part-exam more than once, the best grade will apply.

Registering for an ordinary exam

·  You must check Studentweb to see if you are registered for the correct exam. The deadline for registration is 1 September for the autumn semester and 1 February for the spring semester. In Studentweb you will also find information about your candidate number, the exam date and venue.

·  In order for the registration to be valid, your tuition fee and semester fee must be paid and your coursework for the relevant course must be approved.

·  If you miss the exam registration deadline, you must contact the examination coordinator in the Office of the Registrar as soon as possible. If registration is approved after the deadline, you will normally have to pay a fee for late registration.

Deregistering from an ordinary exam

·  You can deregister from an exam up to 14 days before the exam date. This is done in Studentweb.

·  If you fail to attend an exam and have not deregistered, this will be counted as one of the permitted three examination attempts.

Registering for a re-scheduled/new exam

·  If you are ill on the day of the exam, or there are other important welfare reasons why you cannot take the exam, you must obtain a medical certificate to this effect. This also applies if you have to terminate an exam. The medical certificate must relate to the day of the exam in order for the absence to be considered valid. If it is not possible for you to obtain a medical certificate on the day of the exam, you must hand in or postmark the medical certificate no later than one week after the exam. The exam in question will not be counted as an examination attempt where an absence is deemed valid, and you will still have the same number of attempts remaining. You are also entitled to sit a new exam if your absence was deemed valid.

·  If you fail an exam, you do not normally have the right to a resit until the next ordinary exam. If a re-scheduled exam is being held, students who failed the original exam can also register for this.

·  If you sat the ordinary exam and require a pass to continue your studies, you are also entitled to sit a new exam before – or in connection with – the new semester.

·  Registration for a new or re-scheduled exam takes place via Studentweb, under ‘Active courses’. If you do not have access to this, you can contact the examination office directly. You are responsible for registering within the stipulated deadline.

·  Fees may be payable for registering for a new exam. See pricelists.

·  Use this online form to register for a new/re-scheduled exam.
