Bergen - Sandviken and Kalfaret

Both campuses in Bergen are centrally located, close to both the city center and nature experiences.

NLA University College has the most students and study programs in Bergen with its two study locations in Sandviken and Kalfaret. At our Bergen campuses, you can study to become a teacher, or choose studies in pedagogy, sports, theology, economics and management, or intercultural studies.

The teacher education programs, both primary and kindergarten teacher, are located in Kalfaret, approximately 5-7 minutes from the train station and centrally located. In Sandviken, just outside the city center, we offer the subjects pedagogy, Christianity, religion and theology, intercultural understanding, as well as ex.phil. and ex.fac. Most of the economics subjects are taught at Kalfaret, while some teaching is located at the Sandviken campus.

Close communication between teaching staff and students is characteristic of the entire NLA University College, and most can expect personal guidance already at the bachelor's level.

Both study locations have a vibrant student environment, characterized by student teams, international community and social events throughout the academic year. The semester starts with a well-organized buddy program to quickly integrate you into the student environment. We also offer a "word for the day" most days, and celebrate the holidays with various events.

Reading rooms

Both of our campuses in Bergen have reading rooms that can be used by all NLA University College students. We see that the reading spaces in the library are primarily used by users who depend on the literature that is there. Otherwise, there are separate reading rooms and group rooms that can be used. After use, it is important that the spaces are tidied up.

Master's students at Sandviken can also apply for a permanent space for up to four semesters, but you must reapply for each semester. There are 26 places available. You can find the application form here. The application deadline is August 31 for the autumn semester and January 15 for the spring semester.

At both campuses, there are good signs so that it should be possible to find the individual rooms and auditoriums.

Canteen

In our canteen you can buy a large selection of both food and drinks at a reasonable price. The sheltered company Spekter Pluss is responsible for the canteen operations at campus Sandviken, and Matgal in Kalfaret.

In Kalfaret, the canteen is open between 11:00 and 13:00. There are also coffee machines available with free coffee.

In Sandviken, the canteen is normally open throughout the academic year on all weekdays from 08:30 to 15:15.

Sandviken

Line 18 towards Formans vei, which has stops at both Festplassen and Torget, goes all the way to the entrance of NLA. The stop is called Amalie Skrams vei and the bus runs every half hour. Otherwise, you can take bus 3, 4, 5, 6 or 83 to Sandvikstorget. From there, walk up Søndre Allmenningen, straight up the stairs between the houses, and you will quickly see NLA.

There is zone parking in the area around the school, and it is possible to buy hourly and daily tickets at a machine right outside the NLA building. On the north side of the NLA building, it is possible to park bicycles, mopeds and motorcycles, as these cannot be placed at the entrance or by the trees on the sidewalk.

Diverse

Alternatively, the campuses offer practice rooms and access to a printer, and it is possible to rent lockers. Rental takes place at the reception. We recommend buying curriculum books at Akademika Studentsentret or via the internet. Or you can buy used books on our Facebook pages "Buy and sell books NLA Breistein" or "Buy and sell books NLA Sandviken".

Are there too many hours at school, and you need a break? Or do you want to do something during lunch? In Sandviken, we can also offer a prayer room/rest room and table tennis and games room in the basement.

In Kalfaret, there are many great student areas to work both individually and together with others. There is also a great library area and separate areas for table tennis and games room.
