Kari-Mette Walmann Hidle is Professor of Social Studies in teacher education at NLA University College. She heads the research group Social Sciences and Humanities (SOSH) and plays a central role in the SA-SMIL project, which examines social studies at the lower primary level (year 1-4) from a teacher’s perspective.
Hidle holds a PhD in Religion, Ethics and Society at the University of Agder (UiA). She defended her thesis, which is an analysis of interpretations of personal identity and the norm for the primary human affiliation in the preparatory works to the «Same sex-marriage»-acts, in 2013.
Hidle’s research interests are centred on three main areas: social studies didactics; diversity and human rights; and sociology of education and knowledge.
She has extensive experience from teacher education for the secondary, primary and early childhood teacher education programmes at NLA and UiA. Hidle teaches and supervises students at all educational levels, from introductory to doctoral level.
