- is familiar with scholarly developments in questions related to mission including ecumenism
- is familiar with fundamental missiological and strategic issues, with particular emphasis on current key questions and debates in the field

The course Global Mission consists of three main parts:
- Global Mission – Biblical and Historical Foundations:
This part addresses the biblical foundations for the understanding of mission, as well as a basic introduction to mission history and how the missionary mandate has been understood in the church throughout the centuries.
- Global Mission – Key Theological and Strategic Issues:
This part explores central missiological questions, such as the relationship between evangelism, church planting, diakonia and socio-political responsibility, and theology of religions in Christian mission.
- Global Mission – Contemporary Challenges:
This part provides an introduction to the missiological challenges of the 21st century in light of the major changes in the global church. Particular emphasis is placed on developing awareness and skills related to cross-cultural communication in the context of global mission.
The following course requirements must be approved within the specified deadlines in order to take the exam in this course:
- In pairs (or groups of three when necessary), students are to interview a person with responsibility for or experience in cross-cultural mission on a topic covered in the course. In exceptional cases, the coursework requirement may be completed individually upon application to the course instructor.
- The interview should be 1,000 words (+/– 10%) and submitted together with an academic reflection of approximately 1,000 words (+/– 10%) on the content of the interview. The topic is to be agreed upon with the course instructor.
If the coursework is assessed as not approved, one additional opportunity for resubmission may be granted within the same semester.
