Where to search?

Search Oria to see if the book you want is available. You can put yourself on the waiting list if the book is on loan. To reserve books, log in to Oria with Feide.

By expanding the search to "Norwegian Academic Libraries", you have the opportunity to order books that are not available at NLA.

If you cannot find the book you want, contact the library.

E-books are available through Oria. If you are looking for an e-book, you can select e-books under Material Type.

Most e-books are available through the Ebsco eBook Collection database. You can read more about how to download e-books here.

E-books cannot be borrowed from other libraries.

Both printed and digital journals can be searched for in Oria. You can also search directly in the library's subject databases. The largest database for Norwegian and Nordic journals is Scandinavian University Press (formerly Idunn).

You can find master's theses written by NLA students in the National Archive of Knowledge. Here you will also find master's theses and dissertations from other institutions.

It is also possible to find Master's theses in Oria by limiting the Material type.

Online you can find Ordnett, which has dictionaries in several languages, and Nynorskordboka and Bokmålsorsboka. Allkunne and Store norske leksikon are good reference works.

You can search for printed dictionaries and reference works in Oria. You can also find printed dictionaries in all campus libraries.

You can find parliamentary reports and NOU reports in Oria, or you can search for them directly on regjeringen.no, where they are available in full text. Official statistics from Statistics Norway can be found at ssb.no. Updated laws can be found in full text at Lovdata. Kudos is a search solution for public knowledge and management documents.

Atekst- here you get access to most Norwegian newspapers in full text, some articles are already there the same day or the day after they are published in paper, but for some newspapers you have to wait longer before the text appears in the archive.

National Library - here you get access to older digitized newspapers.

Pressreader – provides access to many Norwegian and foreign newspapers and magazines. Here you will find an electronic version of the printed newspaper, and they are available on the day of publication. Pressreader can also be downloaded as an app, and you have access from NLA's IP address
