Tuition and semester fees

NLA University College is a private university college. Students therefore pay tuition fees to NLA and a semester fee to the student welfare organisation each semester.

The standard tuition fee/basic rate for the academic year 2026/2027 is NOK 4,300 per semester for students from the EU/EEA/Switzerland. Some studies have their own fees, look up your study program here. The tuition fee may be adjusted annually, so the amounts presented may not be correct for the entire course of study.

The semester fee depends on which student welfare organisation you are affiliated with. Currently the rates are NOK 550 - 700 per semester.

Do I have to pay if I study elsewhere?

Pay to the place of study where you spend most of your time

You only need to pay the semester fee at one place of study in Norway. Pay to the place of study where you are staying for the current semester, or where you take the most credits. If you have an exchange stay abroad, you must still pay the semester fee to NLA University College.

Paid to another place of study?

If you pay the semester fee at another place of study in Norway, it must be registered at NLA University College. Upload documentation that you have paid the semester fee here. Examples of documentation are screenshots from online banking or Studentweb.

Regular and rescheduled exams are included in the tuition fee.

Exam fee for new exam - graduated students

Students who have completed a course of study and only need to retake an exam can choose to be a regular student and pay the regular tuition fee or pay NOK 800 per new exam. In addition, a fee to the student welfare organisation must be paid. For this scheme, all coursework requirements must have been completed and passed and the student must have been validly registered for the exam previously. The student will not have access to the learning platform or closed teaching activities at NLA. The student must notify the study administration if they fall under this scheme.

Master's theses

The following applies to master's theses submitted after the deadline: When the assessment is held before 31 August/31 January, the assessment is completed in the same semester and no new fees are to be paid. Assessment after this triggers a full tuition fee for the new semester.

How do I apply for a refund of tuition and semester fees?

Refund of the semester fee

Deadline: 1 September / 1 February.

Refund of ordinary tuition fee (NOK 4 300 per semester)

Deadline: 3 weeks after the start of studies.

Refund of increased tuition fee (tuition fee over NOK 4 300 per semester)

If a student withdraws from a study program with an increased tuition fee (tuition fee over NOK 4,300 per semester), the student is obliged to pay tuition fees for each commenced month – corresponding to 1/10 of the entire academic year's tuition fee per month.

If studies are terminated after 15 November in the autumn semester or 1 May in the spring semester, the tuition fee will not be refunded. However, first-year students have a withdrawal period of 3 weeks after the start of studies for a refund of tuition fees.
