HSM Study Trip to Kenya

This study trip is offered to students at the Hauge School of Management in Stavanger, Bergen, Oslo, and Kristiansand. It is connected to the course IML221 Entrepreneurship Laboratory, which runs in the second half of the autumn semester. Please note that participation in the study trip is mandatory for all students taking this course.

Over the course of 16 days, you will gain valuable academic and personal experiences. You will apply classroom learning to support local Kenyan entrepreneurs in developing business plans for their small businesses.

Some days will be dedicated to consulting work with entrepreneurs, while others will give you the opportunity to explore Kenya as a visitor. Planned activities include:

You will stay at the Scripture Mission Conference Centre, with rooms shared by 2–4 students.

How to apply?

Due to limited number of spots, all applicants must submit a short motivation note, which will form the basis for participant selection.
This trip is intended for students who are motivated to contribute to the development of both themselves and others.

Your motivation note should briefly answer:

  1. Why do you want to go?
  2. What do you want to learn?
  3. What can you contribute to the group and the project?
  4. How do you think this trip may influence your future?
