New titles and tones at NLA's music environment

The music department at NLA College (Staffeldts) recently celebrated several promotions – a recognition of competence, commitment, and a strong sense of community.

Five employees in the music department were honored for their professional development and significant contribution over time.

Vegard Schow – Associate Professor

The committee pointed out that Schow, with his practical-pedagogical competence and his professional administrative experience, has a wide range and activity directed towards the field of work. His work as a musician, composer and producer shows solid craftsmanship and a high level and breadth. He has been – and is – a mainstay in the music environment, expressed the head of the music department, Ole Kristian Kogstad.

Bernt Rune Stray – Professor

The committee felt Stray's application showed a creative artist who is both versatile and innovative, with an impressive CV. The head of the music department highlighted Stray's knowledge, competence and what he has meant for the department:

- You make the students shine!

Beate Lech – Associate Professor

The committee expressed that Lech's artistic production is so pointed and articulated that it is to be regarded as artistic development work and research more than artistic experience.

Department head Kogstad thanked:
– You have been a real pleasure to have on staff. You are fantastic with the students – good at getting them to grow – and fit perfectly into our music team.

Marie Pihlstrøm Frostlid – Senior Lecturer

The committee pointed out that Frostlid's competence in performing rhythmic interaction, work experience, vocal coaching, vocal arrangement, broad pedagogical experience and artistic production is at a high national level.

John Børge Askeland – Senior Lecturer

The committee pointed out that Askeland has broad competence as a pedagogue at both bachelor's and master's level and has a high national artistic level in his work as a performer. He also has broad national experience as a freelance musician with corresponding artistic production.

Ole Kristian Kogstad – Senior Lecturer

The committee pointed out that Kogsatd has long management experience from the music department at NLA and functions as a supervisor on the master's program. He has over 35 years of experience as a performing musician, with a focus on rhythmic interaction in a church context, which harmonizes well with NLA's professional and value-based profile.
