Aesthetic Traces
This study explores how aesthetically designed environments influence children's play, storytelling, and long-term engagement with fictional worlds. Focusing on The Theatre Wardrobe as an arts-based pedagogical laboratory, it examines how space, materials, and dramaturgical design actively contribute to children's meaning-making and imaginative play. Using observations, photographs, conversations, and reconstructions of play spaces, the research investigates how children create, sustain, and transform fictional narratives over time. The study also highlights the role of the pedagogue as a co-performer whose aesthetic and facilitative choices support immersion, role-play, and dramatic exploration without directing the narrative.
