Journal article: Starting school without knowing the language of instruction - a social and cognitive challenge

The challenges and mechanisms of using a little known language as language of instruction in schools are exposed using data from Cameroonian primary school classes. In the context of the Education for all-programmes, such practices are shown to be dubious. Instruction only in Norwegian for many multilingual classes in Norway should be considered in this light as well.
