Molecular cloning and preliminary characterization of estrogen receptor beta in Atlantic salmon
We have cloned and sequenced an estrogen receptor (ER) from pituitary and testis of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) [1]. Sequence analyses revealed that the novel ER represented an estrogen receptor beta (ERβ) subtype. The cDNA sequence comprises 2685 nucleotides and the open reading frame encodes a protein of 594 amino acid residues. Results from yeast two-hybrid system indicate that ERβ has features like other nuclear receptors regarding protein dimerization. Expression of ERβ and ERα have been investigated by a semiquantitative PCR (qPCR) approach
