Round Table Panel: Voices with Impact: Women Leading a Culture of Responsible Communication | Iccehs
Professor Carol Azungi Dralega was an Invited panelist at the international roundtable “Voices with Impact: Women Leading a Culture of Responsible Communication” organized by the International Committee on Countering Extremist and Hate Speech (ICCEHS) on 9 March 2026. The contribution presented insights from the SOCYTI research project on online hate speech and AI-supported responses. The presentation reframed online hate speech as a societal coordination challenge rather than solely a platform moderation issue. It highlighted the role of victims’ experiences in identifying institutional gaps, the intersectional dynamics of online abuse, and the importance of multi-stakeholder responses combining technology, policy, journalism, and community resilience. The talk also addressed implications for democratic discourse, media responsibility, and knowledge authority in digital environments.
