Women and war in Northern Uganda and ancient Israel : the interpretative role of academia
As part of a research program on reintegration of female, former child soldiers in northern Uganda, the essay focuses on academia's inlerpretative role vis-a-vis women 's experiences of war and religion. Proceeding from some biblical narratives on women's experiences of war in ancient Israel, it is asked how academia may enable women exposed to similar warlike situations in contemporary northern Uganda to develop interpretations that allow religion to play liberating rather than oppressing roles.
